got any update pics yet on the White ? Can't wait to see what's next Lee
just for the picture , two cabs on one frame (i have seen it before )
made another cab, slightly smaller dan the sleeper
a day cab will be following these, dont know how this one is called, i geus its to small for sleeping but bigger dan a daycab
Cor
Nice work. Will there be a CB microphone cable hanging down inside the cab by the driver?
Did you make the cab on your own or is it a modified kit?
Thanks for the updated pics looking good
cb mike, i will try that one
it is not a modify kit, dont know who made them as a kit?
Cor
Is it 100% scratch? 3dprint?
The reason for the questions about "how" is, the quality is very high for a hand build. Even looking closely, only a few cut flaws are visible. Scoring / carving is perfect if done by hand. Nice flat panels, no apparent warp, etc
Cool build either way
almost right, no 3d print and not a kitbash.
just took a asam truck to parts
made a mold and start pouring, from there it is cutting the side panels for the smaller cab's
but still a lot of work, and from there i started making all other parts as frame, etc
Cor
Oh, a "casting". I have never cast many plastic plastic parts before, it didn't cross my mind . Not exactly scratch, and only sort of a kit-bash .
..more like making a new conversion kit
Very nice work. Do you plan to do a period correct paint job?
no plans yet for a time period, maybe when i have completed severall trucks i make a decision
scratch, yes /no , the total is a load of work, frame is compleet new, for the engine i have to figure something out , the interieur of the cab has to be done completly new
side panels are cut.
thats all what have to be done

Weather was fantastic for the annual Antique Truck Club of America truck show in Macungie PA:

I see some oil on your workbench already LOL
Looks nice.
Is this model any relationship to "Alan Smiths Models" white metal 1:50 White Commander kit? I wish he would make 50's era stuff.
This a white metal kit offer by "Alan Smith Models" ASAM maybe 15-20 years ago. A fellow correspondent on another forum built this kit maybe 10 years ago. It's a nice model even though a little small. I personally try to avoid 1/50 tractor trailers due to their small size. If your clever they can be placed strategically and still work; just watch out for those Preiser 9' figures.
I like your use of Don Mills and ASAM components helps with the 1/48 thing. I enjoy your posts despite the era is far beyond my needs. Adds flavor to the forum.
On that note about 3D prints; Shapeways is making us some neat 3D stuff these days. I just ordered a 1950's horse trailer in 1:48.. Will finish it up should work well.
Cor, et all: I wish these truck threads could be in a more trafficked area than 2 rail. 2 rail is a very subdued corner here on OGR... Maybe the OGR staff can add a vehicle forum? They deserve some good attention!
Good idea Erik I like to post here because its quite and no drama you guys are the best on the forum and thanks for letting us o scale truckers post here
Erik
yes I have taken a similar build truck from A Smith truck and took it apart, did not know it was a kit
Alan Smith is as far as I know the same as ASAM
measured the model, I believe it is pretty good to scale 1/48, it's looking ok next to the other models I have build so far
still no models build from Don Mills, but that wont be long before I order a kit.
a separate forum for just truck's etc. looks ok for me, now it is digging to find them back.
still looking for models from cars to ad for my railroad, for now I have the staff car from Tamiya and a few kits from revel.

Joined this forum because of this topic. I'm a truck and heavy equipment modeler, though I do have a few MTH trains to go along. Was curious if you have continued with this project Cor, and would like to contact you somehow if possible.

Thank you, will be in touch. I have many ongoing projects so I know how it is for sure.

When my wife was alive she owned three hunter/jumpers. I still have one of them so I want to see your trailer when done. Shrink her to 1/48th. Thanks.
