I missed out on the RRC ES44 so I might be able to convince my wife on a substitute.

To Pat at Pats Trains, does your price include s&h? And, is this a limited number produced like the RRC and Service Station Special ES44's? Thanks

I can't find anything on this on MTH's website. Is it available in multiple cab#'s, or in a non-powered unit as well?

Is a "-2" scale-wheeled/fixed pilot version available?

If you do get this one too, can you just imagine how awesome it would be to see this triple-headed with your club version and hybrid?  It would be a show stopper!

It is not on the MTH website as of this post.  There is only one cab number and there are no dummy units.

What's with the bright blue paint? Where'd that come from? Wrong color?

I talked with Rich Foster from MTH today and he said there are only around 100 of these units produced. I like it better than the EVOs. There is something about the flashing lights that draw you in.

June 18, 2013 - M.T.H. Electric Trains released its third and final uncataloged Premier O Gauge ES44 diesel for 2013 last week. This limited production run in General Electric Demo livery features Proto-Sound 3.0 and flashing charging lights. Like the previous two ES44 releases this Spring, this attractively decorated two motored locomotive is very limited in production - just 125 were produced - and is being offered to our M.T.H. Authorized Retailers on a first-come, first-served basis.

That's unfortunate that they don't offer this in the "scale wheels" (2-rail) wheels version.  I'm normally not into "demonstrator" units but this one I'd get but I'd rather have the fixed pilots and scale wheels as that's how I'm buying the majority of my diesel engines now.

FYI...  Video on the MTH website says you can purchase scale-wheels separately and install them on this unit.  Might be worth exploring this option.

All the new MTH premier locos come set up with the 3-2 wheel setup. This means that they can be converted to 2 rail operation by changing to the scale wheel set, removing the pickup rollers and moving the internal switch for DCS to DCC. Very simple operation but the wheel sets do cost around $50 for a 6 axel diesel. They do not however have a fixed pilot and the couplers will need to be changed

If you desire fixed pilots, correct length handrails, and scale wheels, then why not just purchase the 2-Rail versions of MTH locomotives? Then, if you want to have a GREAT looking model to operate on 3-Rail track,simply change out the scale wheel sets and replace with Hi-Rail wheel sets. Plus, the model is already set-up to mount Kadee couplers.

Well yes... that's a natural IF the locomotive is being offered that way.  In this case, it's not.  As already mentioned, it's only available in the hi-rail version.

Well THAT's just a darn shame! Who is responsible for THAT over site?

Well I broke down and am getting the GE . I have the Hybrid, the MTHRR and now GE . I also have a Non powered GE.  I know I will kick myself for not getting the DCS one. I think if the DCS logo was small like the MTH on the cab I would of got one. I like the paint on it.  Do I really need them all?

I was VERY tempted to purchase the latest GE version when I was over at Mercer Junction yesterday to pick up an EMD SD-24 Demo locomotive (I REALLY like this one, as well), but resisted because my "internal hobby expense monitor" told me to pass on it.  Of course, I have been known to override that monitor's advice at select times.  This time, however, I came home with the SD-24 and nothing else.
