Fort Wayne Historical Society uploaded a new video today of the 765 back in 2012. Here's the video description on youtube.

"Climb aboard the cab of Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive no. 765 behind fireman Steve Winicker in this uncut, raw footage from the locomotive's historic climb up Horseshoe Curve on August 20th, 2012! Watch the entire documentary here: https://fortwaynerailroad.org/giftsto...

The 1944-built locomotive was the first in 20 years to traverse the historic landmark. Ride along with multiple, exclusive cameras and a behind-the-scenes look with a DVD or BluRay copy of the documentary "Listen for the Whistle"."

Sounds like in the video you had some shotgun exhaust smoke? In the video also it looks like the fireman has a foiled lunch? Also for this upcoming year of 2017, are you planning any mainline trips like in previous years or are you just doing the CVSR?

There are two whistles you will hear in this video.  The higher pitched one is the all brass whistle from NKP 700, built in 1934.  The 765 has carried this whistle since her first overhaul complete in 1979.  The lower pitched whistle is from the PRR East Altoona Roundhouse, once the world's largest roundhouse.  It is a 3-chime, 8" diam. Lunkenheimer whistle.

I'm glad you guys were able to come to my state twice. I rode both Horseshoe Curve and Lehigh Gorge trips. I met Kelly Lynch on the train on Horseshoe Curve trip, and Rich on the Lehigh Gorge trip. I'm guessing since NS has cut back it's steam program to just 611, you won't be able to run any more passenger excursions on NS. So where would you run on the mainline this year? CSX certainly won't take you, they have had a ban on steam for a while now, since about 1995 when the New River train switched to Amtrak Genesis diesels. I know you tried to run another trip in Chicago area on BNSF last year but it didn't work out.

Gee...I guess the engineer was too old and ugly to be in this video.

Rich,

While watching the video I thought of something.  What did the engine crews during Steam Operations do when they had to go to the bathroom?  I can understand that #1 can be easily taken care of, but what about #2?

There's the coal scoop to squat over and a big 'ole coal fired incinerator right in front of the crew.

If you suffer from stage fright, however, you're outta luck.

Well....I hope Mega Steam never produces THAT scent.
