This video highlights Lionel's F40PH's and Superliner cars.

The daily "Zephyr" rolls thru the layout on its run to Denver and points west. Locomotive #364 is the lead unit followed by #200. The #200 wears the battle scars of an urban life and retains the metal mesh across the windshield to protect the Engineer from errant rocks. Bringing up the rear is a "Cabbage" #90218. Amtrak converted a number of the retired power units into baggage/cab cars.

The revenue and passenger cars are a combination of MTH and Lionel. The mail cars, full baggage and transition sleeper were manufactured by MTH. The remaining (7) Superliner cars are Lionel (I also added another MTH Sleeper to the rear with the silver trucks) . I really like these Lionel Superliner cars. They are 18" long, all aluminum and have great detail with full interiors and passengers.

Awesome video Donald, as usual. Really like your layout and trains. Reminded me of the 1980s when I lived in California and rode the Coast Starlight from southern to northern California a few times.

Thanks Vern. I also made that trip a few times. Beautiful scenery and the 1st class Parlor car was the best. I enjoyed having a libation, sitting in a comfy chair watching the world roll by.

Great video. While we didn’t see the super liners on the East Coast, the snubnosed, black topped F40s were a common site.  I recently purchased a newer Lionchief Amtrak engine to go with my MPC Amtrak passenger cars.  While not prototypically correct, the proportions look good. But now after watching your video, I’m tempted to pick up some of the F40s.   😁

Terrific Video.  Thank you so much.  I also have the Lionel F40PH and use it for hauling the K-Line Bombardier Phase 3 cars in a local transit route.  My Phase 4 Superliners are pulled by an MTH Genesis GE P42DH.  I do not have the baggage cars or the curves to haul 14 units.

Your layout is spectacular. Very nice track plan and exceptional scenery.

I to commend you on producing a 5 Star video production, from your team of F40 Amtrak diesels picking up the beautiful passenger train at the station and taking the double decker cars over the really cool scenic ride around your well done layout, simply jaw dropping. Your videos are so much fun to watch, via my IPad, but I’m learning quickly how to pull them up on my smarter than myself TV…. Thank you for sharing your talents with us, it’s the best show in town, Happy Railroading Everyone
