After being away for like 50 years, I've noticed a few changes. A wee bit. (Ahem)

Dabbling my toes in the MTH waters, I am thinking about going the following route to start off simple:

  1. A (readily available) Z-750, or Z-1000 brick wired directly to the track.
  2. A 50-1033 DCS remote commander running in passive mode.

Aside from locomotive power (that's next), is this all I need to get to get started? Or am I missing something?

Just be sure the electrical equipment you buy will run the locomotives you want.  CLUE: they are not all easily interchangeable.  In fact, I would suggest looking at the numerous threads in the DCS, Legacy and Electrical fora before settling on anything.  You might decide to buy engines that come with their own remote controls and a wall wart that plugs in to wall and track, negating the need for a brick or a remote commander.
