A side note here........

My son is working for a restaurant chain that is the fastest growing company in the USA right now. They can't build new locations fast enough. But to be truthful having the ability and financial means to expand a company today is not that difficult. Getting PEOPLE is the limiting factor. Everything else is so easy to do (building property permits financing )   but finding people that come to work, do not steal, do not show up high or drunk and are able to represent your company like you want is close to impossible today. Sad....but the limiting factor. And from what I understand Mr Menard does not accept less than 100% from his employees, as it should be, today a tough thing to find.  Until people want to work again....expanding will be tough.

Unfortunately, we aren't dabbling in S Scale. If we can get a bigger S Scale following, I can see it as a possibility. I just don't see a large enough market at this time. I'll keep my fingers crossed though.

Many thanks for your reply. Regarding York PA, I was referring to the possibility of Menard's possibly having a booth (with a bunch of product) at next month's TCA train show. At the same time, corporate expansion into the Mid-Atlantic region would be great.

 

Also, can you shed some light into how limited the runs are for your buildings? For those of us who are more budget conscious (by necessity), does the pricing for each item essentially stay the same until it is sold out? Lastly, how many buildings were made prior to the six showing on menards.com right now?

I was ready to order at least the van, as it is one of the few road vehicles (although I cannot remember any others right now) that is described to be 1:48 scale.

 

Mark (Menards) - If you guys start offering 1:48 scale vehicles, you will have cornered that market, as no one else has them, and we all (in this forum) want them  !

Nice truck and I like the headlights, but I only do steam era so I'm not a potential customer. I'd like to see something similar from the 1930's, if you think the market would support it. What I'd really love to see, especially with the headlights, is the 1934 Texaco/Diamond T "Doodlebug" streamlined tank truck. That is the coolest tanker ever made, and it has been modeled in 1/32, 1/55, and HO but never in 1/48 or 1/43 for the best appearance on an 0 gauge layout. I would love to see our products at the TCA train show! Whenever we can reach a wider audience, it is a great thing. However, it we will not be able to do so this year.

 

As far as buildings go, the runs are fairly limited and the pricing is fairly stable. We believe they are a great value!

Question been asked, or statements made to the vehicle, nice, yes. But does not fit mine nor some who have posted here eras we model.

Will a re-issue offer older vehicle? Its an item that is completely useless to me, yet I'm sure its part of the price.

Surprised this hasn't been answered with all the post on the vehicle?

It is a superb building, and will be thinking on it, but yes, the vehicle is the present roadblock, and is part of the pricing I'm sure.

Adding. Farmers keep their vehicles a long time, I still have late 50s and 60s trucks on my farm. But newer vehicles will date a building faster, and disrupt an era modeled.

yes, I think the descriptions of those vehicles are not accurate.  There were postings of the Van on the forum being small.  My brother picked it up for his layout and we were both disappointed that such a cool vehicle just looked so small.

Hear it is Guys The new Feed & seed  by Menards. I also orderd the 3  outlet power adaptor that Ill try out on the Milwaukee Road shed I got a few months ago. Since I put the feed & seed store away already.

I just put it on a scale and the weight I got was 16.2 lbs. It has some weight to it I think it all comes from the base it sit on.

You have GOT to be kidding!  It weighed "16.2 lbs."? Sure you don't mean ounces?  I've got some steam models that don't weigh 16 pounds.

16.2 pounds? Wow! Now I don't feel so bad about paying the shipping from Menards.com. That said, I'm still puzzled by the processing fees shown on the checkout page.

   Way cool Menard's Feed & Seed store, I have no plastic or wood buildings left on my Christmas layout, however this is real tempting, seriously nice bldg & truck.  We have the big Ceramic Grist Mill with flying Geese and this Menard' Feed & Seed store would be another nice addition, to our layout.

Lima Sorry I repackaged it all ready. I'll try later in the day  Possibly. rite now I have to take the Dog out to play in the melting snow. Its 55 degrees out their today. Plush I can use a day like today and stretch the leg. Then on Friday another DR. appointment down town Chicago.

 

Dave They have a marking on the box that says 75 of 2000

So I wonder how many are sold all ready So I would buy one soon.

I wonder if they would make more then 2000.

The windows are transparent plastic and hand painted to add an aged appearance. The base is attached with phillips head screws so, although I have not done so myself, I believe it would be possible to separate. There is a backup battery slot in the bottom that would have to be hidden somewhere or removed but otherwise, the wiring for the building and truck is self contained.

Seeing how you're posting on here and talking to us Mark (Menards), it made my admiration of your O Gauge products turn now into seriously working out what to buy first!

Definitely an affordable line of rolling stock and buildings that will make great additions to my existing layout!  I'm one who runs what I like (not tied to any one road name), so I'll definitely be picking up stuff from here on out!

We have had a ton of interest in expanding into other scales. S and especially HO have been very popular. However, we still have a lot of learning to do as we are still pretty new in the hobby (I mean from a production standpoint). At this time, we aren't ready to break into other scales quite yet.

This seems like a good chance for me to jump in with an idea.  I too would like to see Menards get into S.  I have bought some of your o gauge buildings for my s gauge layout. I would like to suggest Menards consider carrying the soon to be released Lionel American Flyer S gauge polar express set.  After all, Menards has the G gauge, o gauge and little lines all in polar express (at least at my home store) made by Lionel.  I think if everyone got to see all the PE sets side by side...the size of the S loco compared to the others would be a hit.
