Things not looking so good here after Sandy's visit.

 

1,. 10 to 12 empty? rail tank cars are sitting across NJ Turnpike by Exit 12 in Cartaret, NJ...washed ashore last night during storm water ocean surge. They are from former CNJ tracks/Perth Ambov Branch, now CR/CSA Chemical Coast Line.

 

2. Hoboken NJTransit Terminal underwater along with most of Hoboken, NJ.

3. PATH Trains cancelled between NYC and NJ as PATH's Hudson River tunnels and Jersey City and Hoboken rail tunnels are flooded.

 

4. Portions of CR/CSA Oak Island yard look to be underwater.

 

5. No train movements on NS Lehigh Line through NW NJ since Sunday. Lots of trees down.

 

6. All NJ Transit rail service is suspended.

 6A. Two tug boats collided with the North Jersey Coast Line's Raritan River Draw Bridge about 4:15 a.m. The full affect on the bridge structure remains unknown.

 6B. Three boats and two cargo containers collided with the NJ Coast Line's Morgan Drawbridge over the Cheesequake Creek at about 4:40 a.m. Two boats are also resting atop  

        the bridge. The affect on the structure is unknown.

 6C. Severe washouts were reported along the along the NJCL and at Kearny Junction, a critical link for service to New York City.

 6D. Flooding was also recorded in Newark Light Rail tunnels, while debris was affecting power lines along the Hudson Bergen Light Rail.
