The Nassau Lionel Operating Engineers is pleased to announce our latest offering in our commemorative car program, the LIRR GLa Hopper 2 Pack. These cars will be Lionel scale Standard O hoppers similar to the newly tooled GLa hopper recently released by Lionel. Each car will have die-cast metal sprung trucks with new PRR side frames, operating couplers, removable coal insert, molded pads for easy conversion to scale couplers and opening hopper doors.
The Pennsylvania Railroad built more than 30,000 GLa hoppers between 1904 and 1911. As a subsidiary of the PRR, the LIRR also used these hoppers in its freight operations. Similar cars were used by several other roads as well with thousands of cars still in service as late as the 1960’s.
These cars are offered as either individual cars or as a two-pack (one of each color)
Orders must be received by September 1, 2015. Anticipated delivery will be May 2016. Prices include shipping as well as NYS sales tax where appropriate.
