I just opened  my two new custom run Atlas EL F7s and tested them on the layout.  Everything worked fine except both had no horn when I MUed them.  They are TMCC controlled (I assume that it must be ERR). I used the Cab1L controller.  I did not try the big Legacy controller yet.

Any suggestions?

No, they have two different IDs. Of course that is the only way to run them back to back.

In "Train" mode neither engine has horn sound.  I tried it with each engine serving as "Front" and the other as "Rear".  Normal TMCC should sound the horn from the "Front" engine.  If I address either one individually the horns function normally.  I'm suspecting there is something the receiver doesn't like about the CAB1L in "Train" mode. Other than the horn, all other functions like bell, directional lighting and responding to direction commands  as a "Train" work fine.

I ran out of time tonight so I will try the full Legacy remote to see if it makes a difference in the next few days.   I've built consists like this hundreds of times...this is a new wrinkle.

BTW, these engines are gorgeous, EL early black and yellow.

One thought, since these are TMCC only engines, meaning they do not understand and cannot do "Legacy" features, what specific train ID (TR##) did you use?

I just seem to remember there being rules about what numbers one can use specifically for TMCC lashups.

I realize I may be reaching, this is one area where I barely know enough and have to read the manual each time- Legacy and advanced functions. Just seems to me there are a ton of rules around what works and what doesn't, special applications and circumstances.

Oh yeah, and wait until Base3 comes out with mapping LC and BT engines to numbers- if you think it's hard to remember the rules now- they add another layer.

Thanks Ray and Vernon.   Ray, I look forward to your post. Vernon, I used TR07.

A side note: A few years back I had no horn on a new set of Third Rail E8s w/ERR. I could only get them to work was by using the old TMCC antenna controller.  Again, all other sound features worked just fine.  A year later, for no apparent reason, the horns worked with the Cab1L and still do today.  Who knows?

Final Chapter:  I fired up these engines this weekend, just as I left them last time.  And "MAGIC" ! They worked just fine. I have worked with this technology since its inception and am never surprised when a new glitch comes up.

The paint and details on these engines are terrific and they run well.   Atlas is to be complimented and thank you  Mr. Muffin for this custom run. I'm getting close to the end of my EL bucket list so these might be the last.

Glad you got them working, I have not been able to locate my instructions.
