Received the material for the LCCA Convention in Tacoma this year and was shocked to see not a single layout tour is being offered, aside from the HO layout in the Museum ... ho hum.

All the "tours and attractions" can be attended any time at much less cost, for those in the PNW.

With the dozens of people up there with layouts  .... why no tours?

Kerrigan, we were looking to go to Tacoma for our first LCCA convention, but noticed that also.  Since layout tours are a big reason for attending a convention in an area we would probably never see otherwise, I, too, was disappointed.  I thought maybe they would be announced later, so contacted the convention co-chairman.

He sent a very courteous, prompt reply, but basically said they could not find layouts in the Tacoma-Seattle area willing to host a tour and able to host the size of groups that would come by.  Sad to say, that means that Tacoma will not be my first LCCA convention.

When we had it in Portland there were many layout tours; the organizers managed.  Even got to tour the very private not-seen live steam railroad ... huge.  Fun rides on the trains.   Couple of really nice layouts.  Limited parking for the buses but they did it.
