Just bought a MTH GP-30 Premier (20-2276-1) at an auction.  Engines runs smoothly with great diesel sounds and smokes like a steam engine...but......No lights, No horn and No bell.

Changed battery to a standard 9V for testing purposes and no improvement. Also tried a new BCR. All connections appear to be secure.  Any "diagnosis" as to what the problem my be???

Assuming conventional, did you try a "Factory Reset" using the Horn and Bell buttons on the transformer.  The button sequence can be tricky so here's a video showing it.  Of course since your Horn is not working you won't hear the single Horn sound when you first press the Horn button (followed by 5 Bell buttons) as in the video.  If this reset clears the problem, you should hear the double-Horn acknowledgement.

Thanks for the responses!!!

"Bingo" Stan. I did the factory reset like you illustrated above and all is well. Lights on, horn and bell now operational.  I run my MTH motive power conventionally with a MTH Z4000. My Lionel motive power I run command TMCC.

Don't know why I didn't consider a reset...must be that septuagenarian focus "thing"
