Have not used system for a couple years. I have Cab 2, 185 power house with power master. I have 3 separate loops and have a bus line for the power.
I do the sign in for the 3 tracks. I either get nothing or the engine runs for a few teet and quits. I replaced the batteries yesterday and now I have blinking red lights on the base unit. Any suggestions

If you're using Lionel Fastrack, there are known issues with electrical conductivity. You could use an 18V light bulb or conventional loco to make sure that you're getting power and the TMCC signal (which travels on the ground rails) all throughout the track. Also, a posting photos or a video would help us to troubleshoot your issues.

Did you replace the batteries with NiMH rechargables or some other type of AA? The blinking red lights on the base are described in the user manual:
I think Ted is right about the initial issue probably being track power and/or TMCC signal related. Also check that the Base's U post connection to track Common is secure.
The blinking red lights indicate charging. However, if they never change, then it's probably because the charging circuit no longer works. Charge the batteries in an external charger in that case.
