Installed a new smoke element on my Marx 666, and it now takes forever before the engine actually starts puffing smoke. I bought it from Marx Guru Robert Thompson, but they look just like a Lionel element. The only difference being a cloth cover fitting over the element itself. I'm assuming the cover is for absorbing smoke fluid. But if so, why doesn't the Lionel elements have this cover? Since Lionel engines require more current to operate than Marx,  might that be the reason for the delay?

Anyway, I just needed to vent, and perhaps pick up some helpful info from this fine forum.
