As some of you know. I am building my modules with code 148 rail and have had good success. However this morning a set my Lionel GP30 on the rails and noticed for the first time that it's wheel flanges are huge. Enough to touch the ties unfortunately. I am 're wheeling my atlas stock with Northwest Short Line .145 wheels with no real issues. However upon inspection the lionel trucks do not seem as easy to get apart as the atlas trucks. As well as having a different axle diameter that the wheels that are listed on nwsl website. My question is this: do you know of anywhere I can send the unit to have the wheels swapped out? I simply don't have the time or desire to mess with it. Any info would be awesome.

Joe at Baldwin Forge can do the work. I'm sure he can set them up non-insulated for 3RS. He posts on the Forum from time to time so a search of Baldwin Forge should find him.
Just in case you happen to have an issue of OST handy Joe lists his email address in his ad for Baldwin Forge and Machine in pretty much every issue of O Scale Trains.
Tee J,
Most of the Lionels will run, some obviously will not. If you can find another Lionel loco with smaller flanges than your GP30 that will fit, it's worth taking the trucks apart and ordering the wheels.
By the way got the shorting problem fixed with the turnouts, whew!
