How do you find out all of this information?

Lots of practice!

Lionel's web site has a user friendly search feature and good product data since about 2000.  The MTH web site has comprehensive data and the search feature is good, very good if you know its quirks.  Weaver is good at listing products that are in stock and they have a list of past products by road name.

The Atlas web site is absolutely - freaking - horrible for finding anything! There is no search by road name feature and no comprehensive product list.  My frustration with the Atlas web site lead what has become by freight car research project.  If I could have just found the cars I wanted on the Atlas wen site I would never have had to find all the things I don't want.  LOL

That is a good breakdown of the evolution of the Pacemaker paint scheme.  The car cement roofs may have gone back earlier.  Take a look at the description in this 1946 article.

Gents:

I own MANY of these cars (both in 0 scale & HO as well).  Not a pain in the neck for me, but a labor of love.  I've been investigating the modeling of NYC Pacemaker Service for many years now! Seems I always learn something new constantly!  After a while, your eyes will shout "bogus" in an instant. (and I'm not even a "rivet-counter").

That's great Pete,

Of the NYC Pacemaker rolling stock equipment: box cars, I have Four Atlas and Three Lionel and One Malcolm's Custom Built BEAUTIFUL Caboose, that he built for me.

The color scheme of the NYC Pacemaker is eye catching.

AND, no matter what I learn, of this scheme and equipment, I find out more from you good folks, on this Great 'O' Gauge Railroader Magazine Forum.
