I have a Lionel S-2 electric with Oddesey . I bought it unused a while back and have run it several times on my layout. it ran good on my layout and the clubs. it now starts to run for a few feet then stops . I am guessing its a signal problem the headlight flicker's a bit and sometimes some features work (sound such as whistle) . I removed the body and cleaned the contacts for the antena and checked the handrails that are the antena for damage and see none. Ideas ?

You will need to confirm where the signal is lost.
1) check to see if the aerial is getting grounded out in the locomotive by taking the shell off and isolating the wire.
2) If still no go, swap the R2/R4 board out with another donor engine.
Follow the antenna. With the body on the locomotive, hit the antenna and locomotive ground with your continuity meter. If you get continuity, search out where the antenna lost insulation from the body. These were always problematic. Go with this wiring diagram.
