Anyone have any news on the NYC S and T units parked in the brush near Albany, NY? Are they doomed to rust away quietly until the scrapper gets a call? Or maybe there's a display unit for an iconic electric locomotive outside the Lionel office? If this subject has been talked to death, I'll humbly shut up.

Still there, along with a u25b, rs3 and some Delaware and Hudson passenger cars.  Unfortunately, they are mostly stripped and gutted, which is quite a shame considering the t motor was cosmetically restored for a movie in the 80s. Right now they are trapped on a track isolated by power plant property.  Hard to say what will happen to them. Right now a lot of equipment at the old d and h colonie shops is getting scrapped. Hopefully these will not meet the same date.

Thanks for the update, Glenn. I assume anything deemed valuable, like copper etc., is gone, so any future restoration would be cosmetic only?

Any number of things from legal issues to lack of any organization being able to muster up the interest, talent (and more importantly, the cash) to move locomotives.

It can take years for all parties involved to strike a deal.
