I would like to simplify the control of my O22 switch tracks. Couldn't I use a SPDT spring loaded toggle switch to accomplish this ? It would save room on the control panel.

As stated by GunRunnerJohn said in this discussion, https://ogrforum.com/t...-switch-controllers, you can use a standard SPDT switch. Probably a momentary style center off would be my advice to keep from cooking the mechanism. However, being a long time N scale person, may be the reason I suggest momentary.
The momentary type is what I was thinking. I use DPDT spring loaded toggle switches for my G scale turnouts.
While the switch may take up a little less room, I like using two push buttons. I really like illuminated buttons as you don't need any more room for indicator red/green lights. If you're into building a little circuit you can also use a single button where each push will throw the switch in the opposite direction. While a little uncommon, there are even push buttons with bi-color LEDs in them so a single hole in the panel could give both remote control and signal lights.
Just adding my 2 cents.

Yes. Momentary center off SPDT (On)-Off-(On).
Dan P,
Actually I like using the manual lighted FasTrack switch controller, track side to identify the number on each individual switch, for operating each switch with my Cab2. No longer do I have them mounted on a control panel, no need for this set up if you are running Command Control Switches.

I asked for help on the Electrical Forum here on OGR last month. After getting some advice I made this video of my test. I have ganged 10 of these little Atlas controllers in the space that 2 Lionel standard controllers. It takes patience but they work and then I also hooked up to an AIU based on advice in Barry's MTH DCS book.
