Love the layout and thanks for the tip about the limber yard verse the big box stores. The elevated track part is really neat. I know it your layout but I was wondering why you did not use a Bascule Bridge or something similar?
Enjoyed watching the update videos. The layout just keeps looking better and better.

I used the lift gate because I want run continuous loops around the layout instead of reversing loops. One reason is because I'm in a limited space and want to use 072 curves and reversing loops would take up a lot of space I need for other things. The lift gate will allow me to run 3 tracks across it on 3 different continuous lines.

Thanks for the reply that make sense if you are going to run three or more track across it. I love to see a close up of how the lift gate track connect to the station track once you are done.
Sean, I just watched your 2 new videos on the lift gate construction and modification, and have to congratulate you on the great work and attention to detail that you put into the project. It looks absolutely fantastic. Your mod of having the controller switches on both sides of the gate was a super idea and was done very well. I have to agree that this is a much more functional setup for the controller that I believe most users would want to implement. Finally, kudos to your video presentation skills - nice job all around!

Sure! We need some kind of club in Delaware, haha. The Fantastic NJ Hi-Railers and DC Capital Trackers clubs are 2 hours each direction in not very pleasant traffic so as much as I would Love to join them its just not feasible.

Haha, thanks to all for the encouraging words. I shoot my videos sort of on the fly and unscripted, so they are by no means all professional and I stumble on what I say sometimes but hopefully I get my points across. I think if you are interested in the LCS system you'll like the next video. I'm going slower and taking my time to make it better than the previous ones because there is going to be lots of detail. Stay tuned!
The layout is shaping up Sean. A lot of play value there. I like the ability to switch directions and the different levels the trains will be running on.

We introduced the High Rail App at the Spring LUG meeting. It's definitely worth getting to control the sensor tracks alone. That being said there is more to it and from what I hear more coming down the rails! We are hoping to have a preview of additional functions at the fall LUG meeting.
Hey just a quick update on the layout. Progress was slow for a few months while I worked with Lionel Engineering on a major sensor track issue. But progress has started back up.

Yeah sorry about that I don't really have a camera that does night shots well and I forgot to light up the House on Fire. The video was getting so long, and they take a lot of hours to make even when they are as bad as mine, lol.
All my previous videos on my YouTube page have the information on how I used the Lionel LCS system to control everything through the Legacy Remote. Way back in the beginning I did buy MTH's DCS system, but I did not like the remote (thumbwheel, cryptic menus, etc) and had issues having to constantly reload engines and stuff so I decided to stick with one manufacturers system and Lionel's system just worked and I loved the remote. When they came out with the LCS system, sensor tracks, etc that sealed the deal and I sold the few MTH engines I had. I just like having one integrated system that works, just my preference. So I never really dug into the DCS system and really do not know anything much about it to know if you can control accessories with it. I'm sure some DCS experts on the forum might know.
Thanks for letting me know. But that's not going to stop me from watching your videos and reading your post, your the man when it comes to Accessories and I like everything you share here!

Good Idea. I have a great SLR that will do much better than the shaky videos. Its hard holding a video camera and trying to run everything with the remote with other hand.

Very nice layout and video. I have been following along from the beginning, but may have missed a thing or two?
I started watching last night, but had to quit before finishing so I have 1/2 or 2/3 more to go. I plan to also check your youtube channel to make sure I haven't missed anything and will be finishing the current video later.
Anyway, I really like your streets and sidewalks and would like to know what you used. If that is covered somewhere I'll find it, but if not I would sure like to know what you used. Those look really nice, they turned out very well. Thanks and keep up the good work and keep the updates coming.
