I remember hearing on an O Gauge Facebook group about a year ago that 3rd Rail Sunset Models was planning on making a run of scale Budd Metroliners in 3 rail O Gauge. I’ve checked their website, but no word on preorders yet. Does anyone know if they’ still planning on producing them?

Metroliners are not off the table.  However in order to get to that point, Amfleet I cars need to run first as they share the same extrusion.  Scott needs to see evidence that these models will sell and with Amfleets out there first, that it the project that needs to be fulfilled.

In the meantime, I am enjoying my Welz Metroliners even if they are not to scale.  I too want a set of scale cars.  The Bachmann ones in HO from the 70's are quite well done for the time and the Walthers HO ones were outstanding.

I think that is a fascinating photograph:

It appears to be a 6-coach train, no snacks or parlors;  it's early in that the cars still have the original under-coupler electrical connections [ as opposed to the later jumper cables ], although it almost looks like the swing down cover has been locked down and replaced with a plastic cover -- understandable after a few deer etc strikes.  No PC nose emblem on the lead car either, and since it is 3 tracks, south of Wilmington.  I wonder if it is some sort of non-revenue burn-in run for the Westinghouse cars ?

Do you know the date of the photograph and possibly the circumstances ?

Best regards,  SZ
