How can I make trestles for my O gauge train? I have some unique areas that I cannot you use pre-made trestles. Thanks.

My local train shop stocks beehive repair kits for those wooden bee boxes. They are roughly scale 6x6's and the actual length is something like 12-15 inches I think. I get a bundle of 50 for about 20 bucks. Its real wood, strong, and looks good. I built a wood bridge that is over 10 feet long. I will go snap a few pics and upload them
Foam- easy to shape anyway you want. Glue a small piece of strip wood across top where track sits
The boards are 1\4 x 3\8 x 17

Determine how wide you can make the base and make a jig. You can build the bents very fast.

I'm guessing that Derek meant trestle designs in the sense of the Lionel "trestle set", such as Pete and I described, and not timber trestles, but I could be wrong.

I've always loved the way your trestle design frames that waterfall rather than blocking it from view as mine does. Some day there will be a rebuild on my layout!

Building your own trestles is very rewarding. I used 3/8" basswood with 3/16 x 1/4 pieces for struts.
