Really nice to see this many trolley fans and their collections. Not really a trolley fan, but an admirer of Ohio and Indiana and other interurbans, upon which you could once ride over most of those two states. Am a big fan of gas electrics and rail buses......anybody collect those models in quantity? They too demand kit and scratchbuilding.
Hello Guys
This is an old thread from back in 2015 -- but interesting anyway.
I model NY City Elevated Lines and their subway and El trains on 2 Rail O SCALE -- and have plenty of Trolleys running on the avenue UNDER the EL. So here are LINKS to a website for PHOTO ALBUMS of photos of my Manhattan & Bronx (operated by Third Ave. Railway System Co.) O Scale Trolley models - and a PHOTO ALBUM of photos of my models of the BRT / BMT /Brooklyn & Queens Transit - which operated in Brooklyn & Queens. Trolleys run on live overhead trolley wire - but I can run 2 rail insulated wheels DC Steam or Diesel or electric locos with freight (or work services) on my trolley tracks with a changeover switch that makes the rails insulated for (+) and (-)
Some of the trolleys you see are either my scratch built or kitbased and modified ones.

So, you can see that I have been very trolley involved since starting into O-Scale back in 1984. And I know quite very many very involved and highly active HO and O Scale trolley modelers but they are on "scale trolley" related forums and on Facebook..
BELOW are 3 sample photos of what are in the NY Trolley Models 2 Albums
BELOW are photos seen in my Philadelphia Trolley models Album

Almost 5 years since the start of this thread and no manufacturer has risen to the task. Light rail is present in several major cities yet not a model or kit to be had. I have no attachment to the trolleys from a by gone era, I have only seen them in museums. What I do see on a regular basis however are the Hudson LRV's the Philadelphia light rail cars and twice a year the San Diego vehicles. I would welcome a model of any of these. For now my light rail loop has a roster of 2 MTH PCC cars, a lionel #60 and an Atlas industrial rail trolley that with a worn out nylon gear.

Here! Here!
I guess the only way to get an LRV done is build one yourself, if you know what your doing

Just shows the value of sitting around and waiting - by now you could have built your own fleet of cars.
Ah if only I had the courage or is it the skill to attempt such a task.

Courage? Really? Nothing to fear and nothing to lose by trying except for not wasting 5 years waiting. You gain those skills through trying - skills are acquired and take practice to hone... Doing nothing maintains the lack of skills. 5 years of working on skills and you'd probably be the expert on building whatever it is that you wanted.

Imperial Hobby productions originally DID produce a beautiful Kawasaki Philly LRV IN O SCALE --- you had to assemble it (and its full interior) and get power trucks from Q Car Company. I have one (you saw a photo or two of it on my posting)
HOWEVER, IHP got out of the O Scale Market due to - well - not enough sales. So the K Car in O Scale is no longer made. You may find one or two on ebay as kits or finished & painted. But other that that -- the only other LRV was the Canadian LRV produced by my fried Ed Skuchas of Berkshire Car Shops, in Audubon, PA. Here is a link to a Webpage by my pal Steve Olsen who built and finished one of those cars --- with excellent parts & construction photos - and operates it at modular trolley layout shows.

But as far as 3 rail shake it from the Box -- none available. Likely not enough VOLUME for a large profitable production market
