Hi Friends, I have been scouring the internet to see if ANY O Gauge manufacturer does or ever did make a model of a Baldwin 4-axle road switcher? There are As-616 6-axle ones galore and VO-1000 4-axle switcher engines galore. But I can’t find a single example of a 4-axle Road Switcher, such as an RS-12 or AS-16, being made in O scale. Any ideas?

MTH and I believe Lionel have made O Gauge RS-1's and RS-3's. Several of the MTH Dealers have advertised the latest RS-1 that will be coming out later this tear I have one in PRR Livery ordered from Mr Muffins. Do a product search for RS-1 or RS-3 on both of their web sites I am positive you will find what you are looking for.
Rs-1’s and RS-3’s are Alcos, not Baldwins. It’s a bit confusing because Baldwin offered Rs-12’s and Alco offered RS-11’s! Different beasts though.
Unfortunately, from a mfgs point of view, they claim not much "love/following" for diesels other than EMD. There are a lot of models that need to be brought to market including a DRS 4-4-1500.
I built one using RS27 running gear under an AS616 body.
Had to do some cutting of the sheet metal RS27 frame go fit in the AS616 body.
Overland imported AS-16's in 2 rail back in the late 80's. They do show up on the secondary market.
There has been talk with CLW about building an RS-12 after the Baldwin center cab units. While Lou has responded positively to the idea, nothing has progressed beyond talking.
Thanks guys. I was thinking about taking an AS-616 and fitting BLW 4-axle trucks onto it, sort of like NHVRYGRAY did. Love to see a pic of how it turned out! I’ll also keep an eye out for the Overland unit. It would need painting, I presume, and conversion to 3-rail, yes?
