O Scale Decals...Where Do You Purchase Them?

Jerry Glow is one I have used, also an outfit in New Hampshire--name eludes me.

 

I hope someone comes up with a good supplier. Microscale does nice work but they are not reprinting the O decals as they run out. I needed a set of CSX decals and they said they were out and they will not reprint them. I'm lucky....I am a graphics guy and can make my own....but I'd rather buy nice decals than spend all my time making them!!! Some I made myself......

This same question was posted in one of the other forum categories. But since the question pops up on a regular basis, here's what I said there:

 

What is currently offered by Microscale in O scale is a fraction of what they once offered. Some years ago they had a blowout of much of their remaining O scale inventory. I've mentioned this before, but I talked to the owner of the company and his explanation was simple and clear: O scale decals do not sell and are not financially worth making.

 

Being I'm a traditional/027 operator, I can mix larger HO scale decals to work for smaller O guage cars. I do a lot of repainting and have by necessity, learned to take liberties given the decals available.

 

That said, here are some other sources.

 

Highball Graphics: mostly HO and N scales, but they do have O scale also.

I will mention Oddballs Decals with a disclaimer. I've done business with them with no trouble. But there are threads here from people who have placed orders and never receieved them. And the website hasn't been updated for almost 2 years, so procede with caution.

Shellscale is devoted to Norfolk Southern and related lines. Mostly HO and N scale, but there is a small selection of O scale, again related to NS lines only.

I've used CDS Dry Transfers, but not in a long time. I've bought them in hobby shops or shows, never direct. But they seem to have a good selection, though aimed at Canadian lines.

Since I mix and match scales, I have found these to be very useful. Railgraphics produces a variety of O scale dimensional data sets.

I tend to stay away from older Champ and Walthers decals. Their film stock is thicker, making them harder to hide in application, and they tend to deteriorate over age. And spraying them with a clear coating first to help hold them together, only makes the film stock even thicker.

Don et al, thanks!  That eBay lead is a good one...though I have not found any bathtub gondola decals I am interested in...but, that's no one's fault.

Is there a website where people who make their own o scale decals can share them with other modelers?
