I have on order from Die Cast Direct two of American Excellence / NEO’s latest offerings. These are a little past my railroad’s era, but I really like these cars and they will make a nice addition to my 1/43rd collection.

AE185552

1960 Chrysler 300F hardtop
Vary big, powerful, luxurious, fast and expensive.

AE185458

1960 Dodge Polara hardtop
I can’t remember the last time I seen one of these. Don’t confuse the ’60 Polara with the. ’60 Dart. The Dart was a similar but smaller and less expensive car that competed with Plymouths, Fords and Chevys

These were some of the finest examples of Virgil Exner’s styling. After these the Chrysler Brass started micro managing his styling and things turned out a bit bizarre. After their sales took significant drop and they needed a scapegoat and they forced him into early retirement. Elwood Engel replaced Exner and Chrysler’s lineup became more conservative.

Also New from Excellence / NEO
1960 Buick Electra 225 4 door hardtop

I expect them to arrive later with today’s mail.  When they do, I’ll post a review.

Both cars arrived this afternoon, I didn’t measure them to see if the dimensions are correct but the proportions look right. The finishes are smooth and the interiors are done unusually well. The wheel covers are proper for the model, not generic, and all the bright trim is indeed bright. I would give these a rating as excellent to outstanding, well worth the money.

The ’59 Cadillac is known for the largest fins, they were the tallest but the ’60 Chrysler fins were the longest.

It would be extremely difficult to chose between the Polara and the 300F. As for romance I had a 1956 Imperial. The reality was with a Hemi, stepping on the gas was like flushing a toilet. I wish I kept that car, even though, with the price of gas in New York It wouldn't get much use.
