I know this is a “where has he been” question, but I have to ask. What is the difference between what these two systems are intended to do? Seems like they both are supposed to yield the same thing. What am I missing?

They both give an engine cruise control. The big difference. Odyssey is done using 32 speed steps. The cruise from ERR uses 100 steps resulting in much smoother performance. With Odyssey there is a few noticeable jumps in speed between some of the steps. They need to have the ability to crawl at slow speeds and are also able to run at warp speeds. A lot to cover with only 32 changes in speed. Easier done when you have 100.
I do not think that is fully true at least not for later ODY. The big difference is one uses a speed sensor for accurate speed control. CC uses BEMF to determine speed. K line also had there own version. G
Thank you!
Like George says, Legacy Odyssey II has 200 speed steps. TMCC Odyssey I has 32 speed steps. The ERR Cruise products have 100 speed steps.
