The April 2014 York Meet has officially drawn to a close. Tune back in October 2014 for more show weather forecasts!

The Weather Channel's 10 Day forecast for York, PA

I was looking around and I noticed there really wasn't any sort of official show weather thread where a direct forecast link could be easily accessed. We have sticky threads with links for just about every other important facet of the show, including the countdown clocks and primers and future meet dates, etc.

We could also use this thread to share weather related stories as they pertain to the show. I have seen some funny ones scattered across the York Forum ranging from heat waves to torrential downpours to freak blizzards. Have fun with it!

I care. I need to know if I need to be miserable in advance. The trip to York is 3-3 1/2 hours by car. In a Noreaster...it will take 7....in a snow storm could be 14. In a hurricane maybe a few days depending on electrical problems, water levels and traffic. I want to know if I need an umbrella, boots, hat. winter coat, snow shovel, shorts or sneakers. Even though I can readily go to weather.com myself, if somebody else wants to post it, please do.

Now in the past, we've posed the question in the carpool. What weather would stop you from going to York??

Speaking of York Meet weather, be cautious when attending the Forum Meeting in the grandstands.  That venue has it's own microclimate!!  It could be 75 degrees and sunny, but under the grandstand canopy the wind can be fierce and temperature can vary 10 to 20 degrees with the shade and wind chill.  And I don't usually get cold.

Even if it's warm I now bring a jacket.

Definitely true!  The Mon., Tues, and Wed. forecasts definitely make a difference as far as the outdoor portions of the bandit meets are concerned.  About the last thing I would ever do is buy toy trains in a damp and/or rainy environment, or buy trains that have been exposed to such conditions.

At the present time--always subject to change, of course--they are calling for showers on Tuesday.  If I was doing the bandit meet circuit, I would make sure I got most of my shopping done on Monday.

Sunny day currently forecast for Thursday.

Truth is Allan, I really don't. For me at this point it's all about the socialization. That really occurs inside, and it doesn't matter what the weather is like. Once upon a time the bandit meets were important to me, but they aren't anymore.

I've been to York when it's poured, I've been to York when the temperature was in the 90's, I've been to York when you had to scrape the windshield in the morning, and I'm going to come to York as long as I can and my attitude is to have a GREAT time.

Let the whiners complain about the weather and whatever else they want to complain about. Let the bleeding hearts say I'm selfish. I do not wish anyone (well, maybe one person) ill. I refuse to have anything but a GREAT time.

Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh) gets about 120 days of sunshine a year.  Not sure about the other end of the state.   You have a 2 out of 3 shot of at least a cloudy day, most of the time, but things do stay green, not dry, for some time.  Something different for those coming from arid climates, like the Great Southwest.  As it warms, snow becomes less likely, but.....

I don't think anyone is complaining Gerry. This is just a reference thread for a quick and easy way to check the show weather. It's a simple courtesy done for those that like to know what to expect ahead of time.

As Joe mentioned earlier there are many factors dependent on the show weather. For example, I'm sure the forum members organizing the hot dog social will be keeping a real close eye on the weather reports.

Nope  We did it in the rain more than once

I don't recall doing it in the rain with you Ben.

Officially, on this unofficial weather section, I remember being there in the rain.

Well at least one person read my original post. Thank you Steve

Latest forecast shows rain chances increasing for Friday and Saturday. Hey, one of my other hobbies is severe weather, so far as I'm concerned it'll be neat to have my first York in the rain

  • Thursday Sunny, with a high near 61. Northwest wind 7 to 13 mph.
  • Thursday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 41. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
  • Friday A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 70. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Friday Night A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Saturday Partly sunny, with a high near 67.

I think jetBlue's modern fleet of airliners are more up to that task. Ol' 9850 doesn't have very many miles left in it!

See you there!
