Hi guys and gals, it looks like we will be moving to the Joplin Mo. area and I was wondering if there are any OGR members in the area or close by. Where I am now the closest person is about 40 minutes away! Just wondering as it would be nice to have someone to bounce things off of when it comes time to build my next layout!

Jeff you are so right, I have got so much help via email and phone calls. But it would be nice to share the next one in person.
I can't thank everyone from OGR that have helped me over the years!
Mike, The nearest Forum member that I am aware of lives about a 40-minute drive from me as well. It certainly would be nice if someone was closer. I hope you find someone near Joplin. As others have commented, you know where to find us.
I wish we had a place where we could post to see if others would like to meat.

Including your location and e-mail in your profile would be a good place to start.
There are a few O scale/gauge collectors in the area as I attended the Springfield show last fall and saw a few people with O gauge trains. Springfield or Kansas City probably has more O gaugers due to higher populations, but I know Southeast Kansas, Northeast Oklahoma, and Southwest Missouri has some model train presence. Joplin from me is about 2-2.5 hours away, but by Midwest standards that’s pretty close distance wise. Feel free to reach out with any questions if I can help!
I live in Farmington, Arkansas. (90 Miles south) and Mitch M, lives in Springdale, Arkansas.
In addition, there is a biannual train show in Joplin (just had one on 11/25), so we are in the general area...

Hi guys thanks for all the information, one thing I know for sure is that the more I go east the more model RR's there are, or at least it seems to be that way.
@harley rider & @Bob I have my current location and email in my profile along with a lot more then some do. When we get settled in our new place I will update it and hopefully find new friends in the area into model RR!
@CBS072 & @M. Mitchell Marmel Hi guys I am sure once I learn the area I will be traveling about and hopefully see some layouts along the way!
Mike, there is a function on this forum showing where members live. It’s under the Members link, with the option as viewing as a map. Here’s the link.
https://ogrforum.com/...ole=1852138194714279
Just keep enlarging to find people living in the area you will be.
EDIT: This link was for supporting members only. Use the other options to suit your needs, including the map search option.)
That’s quite the move, by the way.
The map is pretty worthless. Lots of forum members in the Cincinnati/Dayton area (including me) are not shown on the map.
All members are there. It’s a database. Maybe you didn’t click through the options to focus on your area?
When I’m searching for my area, I use the search function in maps, selecting my ZIP Code and within 100 miles in the Geographical option.
Here’s the link to that function.
Hi Jim, I just did a quick search and only found folks 100 miles away, but I will keep looking!
Thanks Jim! I never knew you could search like that.
