I guess eventually a Duplicate number on the same type of freight car would happen. BNSF flat cars with the same 3928 number.

Since Menards offers those two cars as a pair, it is likely that it was meant to be like that. Personally, I would just prefer that Menards not go to the trouble of putting individual numbers on their stuff as they are obviously mainly on a toy-level.. & the numbers themselves are just shiny-looking stickers. all-in-all, I love their stuff!
Pretty sure that was a joke Ron.
Obviously a very subtle form of graffiti. Quite prototypical.
Couplers work fine, correct spacing between the wheels so the duplicate numbers is a non issue and the T&T looks terrific. Would like to see that T&T released in other carriers such as JB Hunt or Roadway.
The two flat cars are supposed to be coupled together at all times to form one longer car.

Your getting what you paid for......I will say their buildings look interesting,....I would never buy any rolling stock.....
With all the fantasy paint schemes Menards does (and these BNSF flats are fantasy,) why worry about duplicate numbers?

Yep, great freight cars for $20, best deal in O Gauge railroading. How often do you let your 5 year old grandkids handle your $80 freight cars.
Bill,
The tractor and trailer flatcars come Packaged as a a set. I wonder if they intended them to be labeled the same? I was at my Menards yesterday and the train aisle was all set up.
I’m going back today and check the sets they have, also bringing my rebates checks to pick up a few things.😋

I don't want to derail Bill's thread or concerns, but I just had the strangest coincidence occur. I just got around to reading this thread for the first time, while also watching the Live Railcam located at Fort Madison, Iowa, which I keep on all day. I was reading the concerns about a Menards BNSF car numbered #3928, and I heard a horn sound on the LiveCam, so I opened that screen. A Westbound JB Hunt stack train was approaching, lead by a BNSF locomotive. The engine number....#3928! I feel the need to buy a lottery ticket or something. WEIRD.
If anybody is on that camera, the timestamp is 10:27:35 this AM, if you want to doublecheck me. Perhaps I'm seeing things.
Hey Guys,
I can confirm these were made as sets, thus they have the same numbers. Each set has a different number, though.
I am working on some additional sets and I'd like to know what everyone thinks about the numbers. Would you rather have each car numbered separately? I'd love to hear what you think.
Have a great weekend!

Hi Mark, each car should have a different number. My Schneider T&T will be removed from the BNSF flatcars and pipe or lumber loads will be substituted.

Mark, I think the sets should be numbered the same..... my opinion. It makes the two car set unique and something no other manufacture has ever done..
Separate numbers would be better unless the cars are coupled with a drawbar.
An A and B could be added behind the number on each car. For myself, I'm not going to worry over it. I'll just run them as they are, or remove the tractor and trailer and add pipe or steel loads to them.

I don't feel that it is a deal-breaker that the sets all have the same reporting number. I can see where it would be a challenge to assure that each car in a set had a different number.
