Subway 1

Subway 2

On page 4 and 5 of the 2014 Lionel Corporation Tinplate Catalog I was tempted with the chance of owning a Standard Gauge tinplate New York City R-17 Subway.  Boy did that look great!  I was so excited for it that I started putting a little of my paycheck away each month.  Years passed only to find out it had been cancelled.  Having something new and different instead of repaints of the same stuff was really pulling my interest.

Does anyone know the story of why it was cancelled?

Joe,

I had a similar savings plan for the original Lionel 1225 and tenders.  Fortunately, I received the 1225 and PM tender as a gift so the money I had saved was able to go for the PE tender and scale cars.

Being able to spend the money on something else takes some of the sting out of the loss.  At least for me.
