Al Judy, a very prominent and highly regarded figure in the On30 community, and a valued contributor to OGR, passed way on Saturday, August 3. I have no details of the cause of death, but I do know that Al very recently experienced and reported a serious health issue. Al was instrumental in the creation and administration of a very popular On30 discussion group on Facebook, and he also established a number of very successful On30/Narrow Gauge annual conventions in Harrisburg, PA.

Al's articles in OGR were published in RUNs 276, 291, 292, 303, and 322. His superb home layout, the Mill Creek & Lycoming, was documented in that 276 issue (February/March 2015). His modeling has inspired and encouraged a great many in this special segment of the hobby, and friends and supporters have already pledged their dedication to keeping his projects and legacy alive going forward.

In addition to his modeling talents, Al was an excellent photographer and writer, which sure made my job a whole lot easier. He was a good friend, and I will miss him, but never forget him.

Al did all the scenery work on my layout, ….we became fast friends, sharing the love of  model railroading and another common interest, drag racing cars,…..I couldn’t do scenery work to save my soul, but with Al’s teachings, I can at least make a modest attempt at a modification to the layout,….That’s all because of Al,….so I’m eternally grateful for his time and wisdom he spent with us…….Al is a great friend of my wife & I ……we had a great time when he came and stayed with us those few precious weeks, …..he truly gave me memories that will last a lifetime, ……forever yours old buddy, rest in peace my friend, …..
