Thanks, Dan!
Is there anything tricky the WOW installation? I have a 2-8-0 stored away ...
The whistle and bell sound good. The chuff sounds a little 'tinny', but that may be a function of the recording, or the speaker enclosure.
Thanks for the demo.
Bill, nothing special. Just hard wire it in. My speaker is in the tender but when I pull it for weathering I'll add a small one in the boiler. You can program most of the WOW with JMRI and the rest using their Audio Assist which is weird but it works.
PRR Man, it's the Iphone. The speaker takes up the whole tender and is sealed. Also that train was not heavy. The chuff gets louder and deeper as you work it harder.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the "WOW"? Decoder, sound module or sound decoder?
It's a new DCC sound decoder from TCS. It allows a little more amperage than the Tsunami and more sounds, higher sample rate etc....
Dan,
Are you going to post any installation photos on your site (like the RS-1 mods) or in O Scale Resource for electrically challenged folks (like me)?
TCS seems to have gone quiet about their WOW diesel decoder. That is the one in which I have a great interest.
Thanks,
Bill
I sure can. If you have any specific questions just let me know.
Can the exhaust rate be adjusted to match the "4 chuffs per revolution) of the Drivers?
Unless it is a 3 piston monster of the UP, sounds like the chuff rate is off.

Absolutely at your convenience.
I am presently contemplating ripping out the disappointing QSI sound in my Atlas MP15
Bill
TCS does not make it easy to determine the amperage rating of their decoders. At $125 or $139, I'd hope they were at least 2 amps.

Yes, still playing with that. The adjustment I believe is in 2 or 3% increments up or down. Tacks some time to tune it in.

Yes, of course that's retail. $97 or so street price. Rated at 1.3 Amp with a 2 Amp peak.

That's great, because this looks like a really nice decoder!
We just got some of those at our store. They're all HO right now but I think the guy that runs the train counter is ordering the O scale. I have a Sunset Santa Fe that I might try it in. He installed one in one his HO engines and it's a really nice sound. He was telling me about everything you can change and download. I haven't rulled out getting DCC yet even though I have alot of MTH.
Ralph
THAT LOOKED COOL, THANKS FOR SHARING.
