One night in Minneapolis

I live about 90 minutes south of Minneapolis so I do not have much info for you, but when my kids and I head up that way we stop by http://www.tcmrm.org That is a nice museum with an 2R O scale layout, next door to there is the Toy train Museum with a bunch of fun layouts, (my kids really like this one).  

As far as hobby shops I have only been to two of them up there, http://choochoobobs.com/store/  and

Choo Choo Bobs has a couple layouts, it is mostly an MTH Shop. My kids love this place, mostly because of all the Thomas wooden trains.

 

Scale Model supplies has a bit of everything, but no layout.

I tend to visit two hobby shops in the Twin Cities. One is Scale Model Supplies in St. Paul on Lexington near University Ave. They have a fairly large inventory of O scale trains and supplies although much of it tends to be a little older stock. They carry Lionel, MTH and other brands. It's an interesting older store with a lot of other hobby supplies too.

 

The other store is Hub Hobby in Richfield. It is located on Penn Ave near Hwy 62. It is a first class hobby store with a lot of inventory but not as much in the O scale department. They carry more HO and N scale than O scale but it is still a great store to visit especially if you like RC toys! As far as O scale trains, they carry mostly Lionel trains and supplies. They do have a fun HO train layout in their train area of the store.

Justin is dead on. Don't miss SCALE MODEL supplies. It's HUGE. They have a back room too with lot's of stuff to look at over and above trains. For dinner - grab a burger at MATT'S BAR (http://mattsbar.com/). They are called JUICY LUCY's and they are awesome. Fun place to relax or get them to go. SCALE MODEL and MATT'S are not that awefully far apart.

Sounds perfect!  I'm staying in Bloomington and MapQuest said that ScaleModels is about 10 miles from the hotel!

I've tried to have at least one Juicy Lucy eaxh time I'm in the Twin Cities!  I burned the roof of my mouth on molten cheese my first time, nobody warned me!
