I was using one side of my Z4000 to upgrade a TIU and it stopped putting out power. The strange thing is when I removed the wires the meter read an output. As soon as I connected the hot side the meter went to 0. Thinking there could be something wrong withe the wiring I switched them to the other side and it worked fine. Any suggestions?

What do you mean read an output? Was it around 1.6V?
How old is the Z-4000? Early production Z-4000's had a leakage of about 1.6V. Nothing would be wrong with that.
It read whatever I moved the handle too, but as soon as I touched the hot lead to the terminal the meter goes to 0.
I assume the red light doesn't flash and the transformer doesn't buzz as when you have a short, right?
