will be available for purchase from the Otterkill Country Club.

The theme of this year's convention is The O&W in the Catskills and we will present a variety of programs, below (plus a brief bonus program) that illustrate why this region was so important to the O&W. We are fortunate to have several speakers this year who have intimate connections to the area and will be providing their unique perspectives. John Conway, Sullivan County Historian - "Doctors Say, "Go to the Mountains!" How the Railroad and the Region's Reputation as a Healing Environment Created Tourism in the Sullivan County Catskills"

Maurice Gerry - 1930's Ferndale Memories

Martin Leroy - Growing Up with the O&W

Mal Houck -NYO&W Passenger Traffic to the 'Vacation Hotels" ...... via the "Great Wooden Fleet"

Jeff Otto - Planes, Trains and ... Creosote

And - The Waste and Ruin Train Haus will be there with a table featuring O-Gauge O&W Trains and a simple layout - "The Vortex", operated with the "Little Monster" Transformer!

Original Post

A Wonderful time was had by All at the ONTARIO & WESTERN RAILWAY HISTORICAL SOCIETY, INC. 60th Anniversary Convention near Otters, NY 9/30/2023!

The Waste & Ruin TrainHaus  made and brought this confabulation:

The set is called "To the Mountains By 3-Rail" and we must confess that the "home-made" Transformer in the lower left worked flawlessly - however the "home-made" hand-bent track was not so successful, and the only engine that ran the course up and down 3 times without fail was the Black 1948 Lionel NW2 Switcher pulling an Atlas Coal Car (that purchased from the Red Pump Nursery in 1989) - and bearing a load of actual O&W coal, hiding there at the bottom, next to the "Little Monster" Transformer...

But there is much more to come at the Great NY State Model Train Fair in Syracuse, NY on 11/4 and 11/5/2023.

If you are in the area, stop by and take a look at our new "offering" - the new set will be a Double Track Mainline offering more thrills (and hopefully not spills)!

We will also be selling some MTH O&W Freight Cars, as well as Little Monster Transformer Components -  and some Genuine O&W Coal!

A small thing - but our own!
