[Featured for a time at the request of Alex]

Hi everyone,

I wanted to extend this invitation to all of the OGR staff and my fellow forum friends and their signifant others .  We are hosting a get together at my home on Saturday, August 3rd from 12 noon til whenever.  My wife will be cooking a lot of great Italian food and there will be drinks, lots of laughs and a great way for everyone to meet in person.  It's a day all about trains, and weather permitting we will be able to spend some time outdoors too with a glimpse of the Staten Island Rapid Transit Railroad that backs my yard.   Please RSVP so I can get a headcount.  You can reply here or email me direclty.   Hoping for a huge turnout and looking forward to seeing everyone.

Thanks very much,  Alex & Dina

Alex...this is going to be a wonderful event.  A chance to see a beautiful train layout and to meet you and Dina...two of the nicest folks anybody could ever hope to meet!

I encourage any Mid America 3-Railer members to take advantage of this opportunity as well as anybody else that is part of this forum.

Alex and Dina...I want to thank both of you for all you do and for opening up your home to all of us..... Both of you are so generous and giving and are the best of the best!!

Thanks,

Alan

You just posted this and I thought I'd be the first to respond but Mike and Alan beat me to it!

My wife (Barbara) and I will be there.   The timing is perfect as we get back from a week at Hilton Head the day before.  I'll be able to show off my Irish tan (aka sunburn).

What are you going to do if 300 folks show up?

Looking forward to it.

Alex:

We were excited when you first announced your open house when it was in the discussion stage. It will be our pleasure to join with you and your wife. We have had several conversations and it will be nice to finally meet the two of you and see your wonderful layout. I am also looking forward to seeing your workshop where so many projects on my layout were born.

Alex,

Thanks for the generous invite!! Can't wait to see your great layout and spending the afternoon with MA3R's and OGR members. And on a weekend that I don't have to work.   So my son Ian and myself will make the trip down from Maine either by car or Amtrak.  My wife Deanna may also come along?  It depends on if we can find a dog sitter for that weekend.

Headcount = (2) maybe (3)

Thanks again,

Mike, Ian and Deanna.

Alex,

Regretfully, Judy and I will not be able to make it to your Open House as we already have a trip planned to Canfield, OH (Lionel's Open House) a couple of weeks later. We are over 600 miles from Canfield and over 1000 miles to your place, so it would be quite a bit of driving.

However, we are planning to visit you in October when we go to York, if you guys are avaliable.

I am sure your Open House will be great!

Hope everyone has a great time!

I thought you'd be there to pick up the boat!

I wish I could John.  I will be out to see Alex the 2nd week of July when we are at my inlaws in NJ.

If I would have known about the open house a few months ago I could have made plans to visit the in laws in August instead.

You can't take the boat until we see it in person!

I'm  working on this, !!

thanks

What time does the subway close, what time does the subway close!?!?!?!?!

This is New York City.  Everything runs 24 x 7!

Escape is easy.  The SIRT runs right behind Alex's house.  You just need to bring a flag with you to wave them down.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the folks I haven't meet yet.  It's going to be a great time.
