Alex,

Looks like you are gonna need a bigger boat
I'll be there along with 2 other guys if god willing.
Unfortunately we live so far away (Fl.) that we are unable to meet with you in person with your wife and see your nice layout, we hope you guys have a lot fun and run a lot of trains.
Alex,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. My wife will not be able to attend (Her niece's birthday). However Kevin Bell, also a forum member and a BDSME member) would like to attend. He will come out with me. Let me know if that is OK
Thanks
JohnB
Hello everyone,
I just sent an email with all the info for the get together, if you didn't receive it please let me know. We have great turn out, so it will be a great time
Thanks, Alex & Dina
Can you provide transportation? My horse is tired and it's a long walk.
The last get together
I'm going to skip that part Alex. I do fine with two wheels, four wheels, or wings, but eight wheels is too many, and I fall on my butt too often!
Roller skating and dancing.......prototypical Staten island night out. Now if bowling was on the agenda I'm in!
I'm coming if you have that Neopolitan Knockwurst that I love so much
Alex and Dina,
I am now coming solo since my wife is babysitting my grand daughter in Bloomsbury, NJ so my daughter-in law can take my son out for his birthday!
So, I will be coming solo!
Please reduce the headcount accordingly!
Also, I was wondering if I bring my RR-Track Files or Laptop, if I can get some assistance in finalizing my layout so I can start working on the benchwork?
Thanks in advance,
Dennis (minus Joanne)

HE that's just overt the hill from me... and In Walter M's Back YArd too!
LOL Yes, my son lives the next street down from Walter's Dead End Road! But we live in Piscataway, so it is a little closer to Alex! LOL
Alex, this is a really nice thing you are doing! I am going to try to come up from Baltimore, and will take Amtrak to the closest station. On the map, that looks like Metropark, NJ? any ideas for public transit from their to your place greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

B&O Bill,
From my research, it does look like Metropark, NJ is the nearest station. I'm not sure about public transportation. Looks like taxi or Zip car? My Son and I are coming down from New England. So, if we don't drive it's Amtrak to Metropark then taxi at $26 to $30 each way. Or Amtrak to NYP, then the MTA subway line #1 to the Staten Island ferry and then the SIRT to Pleasant Plains. Which could be a 2 hour journey. So, driving and then a stop at Coney Island to ride the Cyclone on Sat. night is probably what I'll do.
Mike.

Hi Bill I did some research and Metro Park is very close to my house,15 minutes away or less. But the only transportation I see seems to be a taxi or car service. I keep searching to see what else I can find
Thanks, Alex
Thanks, Mike and Alex. Cab looks like it will work fine.
Bill
There is another possibility.....
One of us that are also going to the party and are driving can pick you up on the way there. I would be willing to pick you up and depending on how long you and or I are staying could give you a ride back to Metropark.
Thanks, Dennis. email sent.
Bill
I'll try to make it as it is a Saturday and some of us still have to work! But.... I can try to finish up by 1 or so and bring the dessert-oreos and chips ahoy and some Ritz.
What! no Mallowmars

Absolutely do not do this!! You have to time trains and ferries perfect to make it to where Alex lives in 2 hours on a good day. Amtrak stops at Metropark and its a short cab ride from there to Alex.
If a number of people get there at the same time, a volunteer with a large capacity vehicle could do a taxi run to pick them up. Anyone coming up in a school bus?
Is it to late to sign up for one possibly two more? I'd love to come, and my father may as well.
Bill
What is sub way, station name at Alex, from La Guadia intl
It was good day to spring this on my wife , couple of days ago,
She smiled, and responded REALLY !! ( not guarantee yet)
thanks
The stop is called Pleasant Plains on the STaten Island Railway
Wow...just got back from vacation to see this! What a generous offer and I will definately stop by!

Alex,
I really wanted to go to your party, but unfortunately, I have a family commitment that weekend.
I would still like to see your layout one day.
Hope everybody has fun.
Erol
What a gracious offer. Dang, I kinda wish I still lived in New Jersey.
Wow... Wish I could make it. Enjoy everyone.
Erol, you probably would not have any fun. Just a great bunch of train guys running trains, drinking beer and visiting with Alex.
Alex,
I just saw this today. If it's not too late, Isabel and I would like to attend.
If you like I can bring some bread and or pastry from Brooklyn; where we have the good water.
I want to thank Rich, Allan and the entire OGR staff for letting me put this sticky post up, and I think it's been up long enough for everyone to see. We have an awesome turn out and it's going to be a great day with great forum friends and awesome food.
And let's not forget the drinks LOL LOL. I'm looking forward to this day which will be all about trains and good times.
Thanks again to all
Alex & Dina
I "unfeatured" the topic a few minutes ago, Alex, but it will still remain an active post in the forum list. Looks like you're going to need to retain some rent-a-cops to handle traffic!

Hi Allan,
Once again I thank you and the OGR staff for helping me out. Yes I agree we will need cops to control the crowd. LOL
Thanks, Alex
And maybe throw in a couple of Porta-potties?
Otherwise with all the beer, the plants may get watered! LOL

Cops? Hmm... I'm rethinking this.
