Is there a sure way to 1) find the part number for lightweight 2-axle trucks for the premium line of MTH passenger cars such as the Northern Pacific North Coast Limited cars, 2) order the trucks from MTH without trying to phone Midge (who doesn't answer)?

Or some place which repairs them for less than the cost of new ones, assuming they could be obtained?

One of them the armature plate on the bottom of the truck droops so it hooks on any uneven track joint of the middle rail, which then unlatches the coupler.

I've two trucks with bad couplers which have sidelined the cars.

I don't find the way to do it on-line ...

Thanks!

Midge is great with returning phone calls, I just leave her a message with the item number and a description of the part I need and my phone number. As far as your coupler droop, I've had the same problem with mine and it was the screw that holds the coupler to the truck that may need to be retightened. With the passenger cars I had to remove the tops to them to pull the truck to get to the screw that holds the coupler on. It's in a complicated position to get to and then to get the centering spring lined up to as you retightened the screw.

Just a suggestion:

1) Have you MTH item number ready for the car you need parts for.

2) Phone Midge at MTH and leave her a detailed message, i.e. what you need, the item number, your name and your phone number with time zone location. Speak SLOWLY! Midge rarely, if ever answers her phone because she would NEVER get anything done during the day if she did.

3) When Midge calls you back, be prepared to give her your method of payment, shipping address, etc.

I'm without an item number.

Is there a source for finding the number for these trucks I can access on-line?

Then I could call Midge with the order ...

Okay Jack, got it.

I thought I needed the part number of the truck itself.

Kerrigan, please reread my post. I did NOT say an item number for the TRUCKS! What is the item number for the CAR that you want the trucks FOR?????  The car item number, or car set item number, is what Midge will go by

No, you do NOT need the part numbers of ANYTHING you want!!!  Simply give Midge the item number of the car, or car set, that you want the parts FOR. It is REALLY that simple.

I usually e-mail Midge when I need parts or part information.  Sometimes it takes a few days for her to get back to me with an answer, but I figure that she probably gets a lot of requests each day, and she has to look up the information as well.  I am very satisfied dealing with her this way.
