A supposedly new P3 384,11-5011-1E starts up and runs in conventional, sounds, smoke etc are working. When I try to load it in my I-pad, it finds nothing. When I use my remote I get a out of RF range notice. Because I get the sounds etc in conventional, I assume the draw bar is connecting Ok. What else do I need to look for?

First, make sure your wires going to the tracks are not backwards. Second, it has DCC and DCS capability, make sure your switch on the bottom of the tender is set to DCS. Still no luck, do a conventional reset, 1 whistle then 5 bells attempt. Keep trying until you get the 2 toots sound.

Thanks Dave, the DCC/DCS switch was the answer. Works great now. The switch is kinda hidden under a truck so I would not have noticed it.
