After a couple of years of running on the layout a couple of TMCC equipped locomotives have discovered what appears to be two different "TMCC signal jumble spots".

The change to the layout just prior to this problem was the addition of some track quite a distance away.

The confusion spots appear to be about 4 feet in length each ...

Any ideas appreciated!

Thank you.

I'll scrub the track again; it looks pretty clean.

A set of Atlas F units, and one TMCC steam switcher seem to be the ones impacted now.

They both used to operate through these two sections just fine.

Months ago, Phil brought over a pair of new Lionel diesels and they stuttered at one of the places, so it's probably been a bad signal area for a while and those engines were slipping by without a problem.

Maybe activating the new tracks in another area weakened the signal just enough for this problem to manifest?

How many locos is this effecting? Which ones, diesels steamers or both?

Typically its tracks that run parallel to or above other tracks that can cause a problem.

If your new track is no where near the problem area I dont see how it would affect it.

A signal issue would typically cause the loco to stop and blink the headlight.

Stuttering sounds like a power pickup  issue, dirty track or rollers.
