Question: I am in the final configurations of layout plans and need to know how far a 400e and a 408 overhang on 48 curves. The largest Engine I currently have is a 390. In my current plan this engine is just fine. If anyone can measure how far past the outside rail these large engines overhang I would appreciate it!

Dreyfuss, assuming you are asking about 42" diam. standard gauge curves, the answer is, not much.  It's not something one would have reason to measure.  There is also enough variation in individual installations that basing setbacks on someone else's experience might lead to disappointment in your application. YMMV.  If you are asking about clearances, you might investigate this thread about spacing between tracks, which is the critical question.  There are also other threads discussing this, search the tinplate forum for "track spacing".
