Overland tender

Photos?

Which tender is it?  Overland made about 10 different ones for their locomotives.  Frankly, I never heard of Overland riveting trucks to the tender bolsters.

Hey Rusty,

This is a water tender for N&W, first brass scale piece I ever owned, trying to be careful with it. Brass is new to me so being cautious with it. As I said looks like rivets in trucks but not certain.

I'm gonna take a SWAG (Scientific Wild A** Guess) here and say they might be screwed on from the inside.  The shell should be attached with screws somewhere near the corners, or maybe even a friction fit.

I was hesitant to take things loose but six screws plus some tabs on one end and off came the shell. Yes what looked like rivets from the bottom turned out to be screws that with a sleeve were spring loaded, success! Thanks for the help, not so complicated as I thought.

Ray I just purchased a  N&W aux. water tender body from River Rasin.    It has all  the trimmings on it  but no chassis.........I will have to make the chassie and find some 6 wheel trucks........

Jackie, if you are looking for scale trucks, I just happen to have a pair. I have converted my tender to run on Flyer track using some six wheel trucks from an American Flyer reel car so the Overland trucks that came with are available.

Ray I was thinking the same thing you just did .....are you happy with your converson? I mean when you put behind a Y  how does it look.  what is your price on the scale trucks?

I've been busy with my garden ......killed my BEMC board in 2020 y-3......I think lionel is sending a new one.........Be careful to not let your smoke unit ground out if you replace the wick or motor......got the AUX. tender all set with a brass home made chasse  .... made hi rail wheel to fit out of gilbert wheels and axles.........my proxoon mill works really great .  I'll get my wife to take some pictures  and I will post them tomorrow

Am looking forward to seeing your tender project, did you do a sheet metal chassis or machine from a block of brass? A note though on hi-rail wheels, I have found that S Helper wheels will fit on Flyer axles at least on the old Gilbert axles. I have traded scale wheel sets for the hi-rail sets and swapped them on the axles.

Good to hear that the mill works good, haven't purchased one but still considering it.
