Hi:
tried hooking this to DCS Explorer and when I try to add get “unexpected error.” Tried Remote Commander— nothing. Tried transformers and it worked like a charm conventionally. DCS switch is toggled on on the underside. I’m stumped. Bought this engine used, first time checking with DCS. Any ideas?

I can only guess that a conventional reset might help?
Something is scrambled on the board (or that DCS switch might not be working)?
Can you take it to a shop or friend with the full DCS system?
Could you reload the sound files?
One thing to check is if the DCC/DCS switch is actually working. In order to have DCS selected, the switch has to be closed, if a wire is broken or the switch is defective, you're in DCC mode.

Thanks. I'm running mostly conventional anyway right now, so, It's working in that mode. If I wind up with a WTIU then I'll send it to be fixed. I have a modern ZW with the 180 bricks and it's running everything beautifully right now.
