I have a P5a 20-5510-1 and when I push the horn or bell buttons running in DCS the side makers blink, front and back and then they stop. Is there anyone can tell me what's the problem? It does it in low speed or high speed. Thanks, Joe

Weird, pinched wire? Your using DCS button right, not transformer button?
Maybe the old 5V board is dying. I think the LED's are fed from the 5V regulator, could that be overloaded?
I had it apart replacing the rubber tires. I didn't see any wires that were damaged. Thank you George and John. I think it's strange because it stops blinking a couple of seconds after I let off the bell or horn. I am using MTH DCS.
Is it a regular blink like it's programmed?
Can't remember if that has smoke or not, try with smoke off. John, is correct it fed from 5V. So either the stress of the audio amp driving bell or horn, or some how DC offset causing interference. Not much that can be done. G
SHURLOCK1,
This engine is the early PS2 model with a 5 volt PS2 board. I once owned this engine and do not remember experiencing this behavior.
I currently have the 3 volt version and it does not do what's described by your first post. It behaves normally as regards all of its functions, including its marker lights.
Thank you every one. I guess the board will just die like an old man in time and be replaced. George this is the original version and doesn't have a smoke unit.
