About one or two years ago there was a post about a hobby store, I thought it was in the York-Lancaster area or outskirts. Was a large hobby store, possibly maybe even an old barn or similiar structure, recall wooden floors with a very clean and well stocked appearance. Anyone know of this place ? or maybe it wasnt the York-Lancaster area ? I've tried searching old post but so far no luck.

Alex - Thanks for the reply, but no thats not the place. Actually seeing the Glen Uhl post and the photos of Aarons City Trains made me think of the post I'm asking about.
As I noted in one or more earlier threads: B&E Junction in the heart of downtown York. Huge selection and nice folks to do business with.
B&E Junction also has the "feel" of an old time train hobby store.
Allan & Alex - Thanks but so far dont see the place I recalled seeing. Now I'm beginning
to wonder if the shop was in PA, wherever it was it looked like a great place to visit.
Based on your description in the initial post, I can at least tell you it wasn't in the York area. If it was, I sure would have known about it.
There use to be a large train shop on route 30 in York. Craig Hollern was the owner. However, he relocated somewhere outside of York. There was a article on this forum about Craig and his new store. His new store was in a large building like a barn or warehouse.
Barry's train shop in Elizabethtown PA is not too far from the area and is one of my favorites. It does not match the barn-type description you're looking for however.
There is a large barn looking hobby store in Pittsburgh PA. I don't remember the name off the top of my head.
There is a shop called ALL ABOARD RAILROAD in Lancaster. They have a large American Flyer layout that they only run in November. The store is behind the house in a old garage/barn. There is a old sign out front and the place looked like it was closed every time I stopped by. I think the owner lives in the house and will come out and stand over you while you look at his inventory. They have a good selection.

I believe the store in question is called The Train Depot in Mt. Wolf. It is located right next to some old tracks in a wooden building that was once a warehouse. It is very old and looks like it could be a barn. It is owned by Craig Holler(the person that Jim was talking about). Craig used to have a shop on Rt. 30 just off the corner at Pennsylvania Ave. It was then called Collector Toys. He moved about 2-3 years ago. Mt Wolf is about 2-3 miles north of Rt. 30. Good guy with good prices. I have not been there in a few years however.

One thing I did when I first started in O was to go to both Lionel and Mike's Train House web sites and do the dealer search and made a list of every dealer listed in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I kept the list in my car and whenever I drove somewhere I checked my list. I marked the good shops and commented on the ones that were not so great. I kept track of pricing and scenery items for future needs. Unfortunately I cleaned out my car one day and lost the list. I went to several shops between Pittsburgh PA and Havre de Grace Maryland. Jim’s Train Shop was one of the bests. Jason’s out in Johnstown is a good shop. I found a good shop in Hanover PA and a couple that I can’t remember where they are located on one of the many short cuts between here and there. Locally I go to JusTrains of Delaware and M B Klein. Grzyboskis in Moosic PA is worth the drive. Star Hobby in Annapolis Md had a nice selection last time I was in there three years ago.
Thanks so far for all the folks that responded. Sounds like The Train Depot may be the place, but I have not yet found the photos I'm thinking of.
I believe by the description of wooden floors, very clean well stocked and I will add is located on the second floor is Nicholas Smith trains.
