Two part question, is there any advantage in using the TIU in passive mode on a smaller layout, two main’s, 10X15, second if you use aux power to the TIU, do you have to run in passive mode? Not sure having aux power plus power brick running through the TIU at the same time what mode that would put you in?

No, I use aux power on my TIU and I run all active mode on all four channels. The benefit of using aux power is if fixed channel #1 loses power, you don't lose power and control on all the other channels.
Aux power is a plus, regardless of which mode you are in. The mode depends on how you wire the TIU to the layout. Active: Track power goes through the TIU. Passive, track power does not go through the TIU.

So if your not in passive mode, with track power running through the TIU, you can still run aux power at the same time if you wanted to ?
See my previous post, I run aux power on the TIU with all active powered channels. So, the answer is obviously yes!
Thank you gentlemen, greatly appreciated
