Snagged two rather difficult to find Penn Central items that popped up at two different Atlas O dealers recently. The C-628 and NE-6 caboose. I actually ordered the C-628 with PENN CENTRAL on the sides but the second road number without it showed up from the dealer. Since the goal is to own both anyway I kept it and am waiting to hear if he actually has the other one.

Nick, Two really nice additions to your Penn Central roster. How did you locate them? Did you just call random Atlas O dealers?

I've thought of doing that myself. I already have two NE-6's (didn't know they were hard to come by) and I'd love to add at least one of those big Alco's to my PC roster.

I'm also looking for the red "P" version of the Trainman Alco RSD12. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jocko.

It's been about one full year since I decided to go on this endeavor and it's the first time I have seen either of those items for sale in that time. They were obviously easy to get around the time Atlas released them, but since then people really seem to be hanging onto it...

As for locating them, every couple of days I'll take 15 minutes to run through a bunch of planned searches I have on either Google or eBay. Every so often I'll get lucky and find something. The NE-6 was listed on eBay by the dealer I got it from and the C-628 was buried a few pages back in a Google search. The dealer also got back to me that that was his only C-628, he had written the wrong item number.

Nick, Thanks for the advise on the ebay and google searches. I was pretty much doing the same thing but had to take a break after recently purchasing three Sunset FL-9's and an E-7.

Tom, I second the motion on six axle U-Boat's in Penn Central and I'm also looking forward to the release of the Trainman U-23B's. Any updates from Atlas on the expected delivery date for the U-23B's?
Nick, Your Penn Central coal hopper consist must look great despite all the cars being black. I didn't pre-order the U-23B either but I'm hoping I'll be able to purchase one once they're released.

Last year when I got back into the hobby I promised myself I'd only purchase Penn Central equipment. Since that time I've dropped close to $1600 on non-PC purchases when there are readily available PC items out there I don't have in my collection. (Addictive hobby to say the least)

The Sunset Penn Central E-7 and FL-9 models really helped renew my interest in the hobby so I too was disappointed when they canceled the E-7. I really had my heart set on a PC E-7 so I ended up purchasing a five stripe Brunswick green unit hoping to have it custom painted by Jeff Sohn only to learn he's no longer in business.

Nice catch! Would you be able to share with us what the exact item number of the caboose is and perhaps a photo too? I was wondering if it was unique to this set and thus it would qualify on my list as a set breakup item.

Being so disorganized the Penn Central was all about odd trains and combinations one never really did see before. In fact, a lone A unit with only two or three coaches in tow was quite typical of pure PC passenger trains!

Indeed the H21a's look pretty good but even with eight of them the train seems a tad short. Something tells me given their popularity we'll be seeing another run of four so that should help. Addictive hobby, you bet

As for the E-7, that really was a bummer but I heard only two people actually preordered it so we can't blame Scott at all for cancelling. On the bright side, at least PC plain black with white lettering is a pretty no-brainer project for any custom painter

Hey Spider I agree, I'd tear down my layout before I'd run Penn Central on it.

Agree, no paint scheme, poor logo and formed from the residues.
