As most should know, Norfolk Southern is doing their heritage locomotives, and the PRR should be the next one out of the paint shop if the road number is any indication.

What may not be known is that the paint scheme is derived from the Baldwin BP-20 scheme as a passenger unit. The locomotives were later reclassified as BF-16zs once they were viewed as no longer viable for passenger service.

Weaver was going to do this locomotive (BP-20) in O gauge, but cancelled in January due to lack of pre-orders. I'd been on the fence, but now with the NS unit imminent, I'd be willing to commit to the model. I'm hoping several of you out there will be also - here's your chance to get the original with the modern incarnation!

I've reached out to Weaver customer support bringing this knowledge to their attention, and will keep them in touch with info on the GE unit as it becomes available. If you're interested in getting the model resurrected, please reach out to Weaver...

Thanks!

The feedback I got from Joe at Weaver from my query is that they would reconsider moving on with the project if they get enough orders.

A quick Google led to lots of signs for the pre-orders, but nothing concrete in terms of something physical to purchase. I must have missed the original release, having slipped my attention to other things, as I thought it was just an ordinary long period between announcement and delivery that we have in our hobby. Anyone with a lead?

I personally do think that the upcoming NS/PRR GE unit will increase interest in this model like it did with myself. I hope enough others will reach out to get this back on the production line...

Next step is awaiting the PRR GE unit to be unveiled at Altoona... Given the first four, I can only imagine it will take the breath away...

As the shopped PRR 8102 causes many rail fans to drool, I thought I'd bring this back up to the top. Weaver seems willing to reconsider bringing their second run back to production given enough interest. If those who didn't get the first run but would like to pair the progenitor with the new engine on their layouts reach out to Weaver, we should be able to get the run going again...
