On Saturday November 5th, Pere Marquette 1225 pulled its special 75th birthday train from Owosso to Clare, Michigan and back. This was a huge celebration of the locomotives 75th birthday with many festivities Since there is no where to turn the engine in Clare 1225 pulled the train tender first for the northbound portion of the trip. This would be the first time since 1991 that 1225 would be on former Pere Marquette rails.
There was even a special birthday cake for all the guests and crew to Enjoy in Clare it was a wonderful Time.
Many Locomotives and rail organizations today survive due to volunteers. Pere Marquette 1225 and the Steam Railroading Institute is no exception. I'm proud to be among the group that help keep history alive and can bring joy to so many people. It can be hard laborious work but it's always a blast no matter what. Here's to 75 more years of Pere Marquette 1225.
