Germantown Avenue and Girard Avenue. The Girard Avenue line is still in operation, not so for the Germantown Avenue line
Nice selection of photos.
Awesome, brings be back in time. I enjoyed the trolleys, and the automobiles and everything else about being in the city inn the 60's. I used to ride the 13 trolley from Southwest into center city via the subway and Wanamakers had an entrance at the station, go up to I think the 6th or7th floor and shop for trains.... I still have some I bought there..
Now I'm trying to remember, what was the story on the oddball transit gauges used around Philadelphia? I think it had something to do with not allowing the trolley companies to interchange regular railroad freight traffic?
#4- 8th & Market
#10-Richmond Street
#13- Delaware Ave.
#15- Girard Ave. & Susquahanna
#16- Girard & Montgomery

Ah, the old PCC cars. Reminds me of the ones in Pittsburgh when I was going to college. One almost hit me once as I was crossing the street.
#13 was subway surface on chester ave to yeadon.
Yes, looks like PTC in Philadelphia, especially the interior.

It wasn't just Philadelphia, but Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New Orleans, Louisville, Toronto and others. The city lines in Philadelphia are 5' 2 1/2 inches, but the suburban lines are 5' 2 1/4 inches. Both have the same back to back, because the suburban lines use a wider thread and deeper flange.
PCC car in San Francisco in 2006. Their roster shows it as a former Chicago car, but
the paint scheme is similar to Philadelphia?
The PCC cars ride well and have comfortable seats. And best of all, several of them are still in service on the F line.
SF Muni PCCs 1050-1063 are ex-Phildelphia 2100s. The color scheme has nothing to do with where the PCC originally ran. There are also some ex-Twin Cities, ex-Newark PCCs and some former Muni PCCs in the fleet.
Like a few of these
The Bera museum in Connecticut has some PCC's too I believe both served in Phillie but are painted for NY We were able to operate one while there
Ben,
Nice photos but that's actually Brooklyn & Queens Transit Pcc #1001 which has been restored by the Museum back into its original paint scheme. That was the first PCC ever produced and the second to go into revenue service in 1936.
HTH,
Bill
